NAFAA EL SAGHIRA (APK) |
|
| 1910 GM EGYPT*71 | Breeder: PRINCE YUSEF PASHA KAMAL | |
| Tail Male: SAKLAWI I (APS) | Tail Female: DONIA (APK) | |
A Pre-Registration Horse
A Kuhaylah Mimrihiyah. Received by the Royal Agricultural Society in 1915 from Muhammad Abu Nafi Pasha. Died 1929.
NOTES: The above information (except for sire, dam and substrain) is from the entry for Nafaa El Saghira in the RAS History, p34, which, however, shows her strain as Kuhaylat 'Ajuz mare of Ibn Nuwaq (or Kuhaylah Nuwaqiyah). No parents are shown. In EAO Stud Book Vol. II, p225, Nafaa El Saghira is shown with sire and dam. Judith Forbis: [AAB, 83] says: "Nafaa el Saghira was recorded in Vol. I of the RAS Stud Book [RAS History] as a Koheila Nowakiyah. During discussions with the Society in 1962, while perusing old stud books, the Arabic handwritten herd book of Dr. Mabrouk indicated she was a Mimrah."
In Al Khamsa Arabians II (1993), it was noted that Nafaa El Saghira's named sire Meanagi Sebeli appeared to be the same horse as Sabbah (APK), a grey stallion bred by Prince Ahmad from Saklawi I (APS) and Maanagia Hadragia (APK). In this work, this hypothesis is followed, and no entry for Meanagi Sebeli will be found in the Foundation Horses section.
In the main body of Raswan Index, entry #7045, Nafaa El Saghira is listed as a Kuhaylah Nuwaqiyah by a Kuhaylan Mimrih. Raswan's correction entries #1181 and #1193, published in 1967, makes a change of substrain from Nuwaq to Mimrih and adds the sire and dam shown in EAO Stud Book Vol. II. However, his correction entry #1196 of the same publication date shows a pedigree for an apparently different Nafaa El Saghira, by a Kuhaylan Mimrih stallion out of Nafaa El Kebira [both parents out of Donia (APK)].
