A Foundation Horse
A Kuhaylat 'Ajuz of the Da'janiyah family (or Kuhaylah Da'janiyah) bred by Muhammad Pasha, a Turkmen chief, who had stolen her dam from the Saba'ah. She was imported in 1878 to England by Wilfrid and Lady Anne Blunt.
By a Kuhaylan Nuwaq out of a Kuhaylah Da'janiyah of the Saba'ah.
NOTES: The above information is from Dajania's entry in Weatherby's General Stud Book, Vol. XIV, p603. It is consistent with material from Archer, et al. [1978, p96] and Upton [1980, p80], both said to be based on access to records of the Blunts, who also called the mare Jasmine and Lady Hester. According to both references, Dajania was purchased at Aleppo on December 25, 1877, through Shaykh Sayyid Ahmad of the Hannadi, a member of which tribe had stolen the mare from Muhammad Pasha.
Raswan Index entry #1853 shows the same information as the stud book, but adds, "Another record says Dajania was stolen from Ibn Jadan (Dajan) and sold to Muhammad Pasha, a Turkoman chief in the district of Aleppo, who in turn sold her in 1878 to Blunts."
