A Foundation Horse
A Ma'naqiyah Hudrujiyah from Durzi Ibn Ma'jil, Shaykh of the Sawalimah tribe (absorbed into the Ruwalah) imported c1885 to Egypt for Prince Ahmad Pasha Kamal. Also spelled Manakia Hadrajia.
NOTES: The above information (except for the dates, which are Al Khamsa estimates, and the tribal derivation of Ibn Ma'jil) is from the RAS History, p55 and the 1932 certified RAS pedigree for *Bint Saada.
Lady Anne Blunt [J&C 3.9.1904 at Prince Ahmad's stables] describes Maanagia Hadragia's son Sabbah as an unnamed grey Ma'naqi Hudruji stallion of the marbat of Ibn Sbayyil (or Ma'naqi Sbaili), his dam the Ma'naqiyah Sbailiyah "brought from Arabia to the Tihawis [the Tahawi tribe in Egypt] from whom Ahmed Pasha took her." In the 1911 Sheykh Obeyd catalog, Lady Anne describes a mare as by "Sabbah... his dam the Manakieh Hedrujieh, brought direct from Ibn Majil of the Roala tribe to Prince Ahmed..." It seems unlikely that two different mares are referred to.The apparent confusion caused by using both Hudruji and Sbaili substrains may be because the Sbaili is derived from the Hudruji.
