A Foundation Horse
A Kuhaylan 'Ajuz al-Mussin imported in the 1880s to Egypt, where owned by Ahmed Bey Sennari.
NOTES: The above information (except for the dates, which are Al Khamsa estimates) is from the RAS History, p85. Lady Anne Blunt [J&C 12.6.1890] indicates she knew Koheilan El Mossen well under the name of Mas'aud, who was sold by Sennari to "the government" [J&C 12.10.1892]. Pearson [1988, pXXVIII] says Koheilan El Mossen went to Khedive Abbas II. On 11/27/1909, Lady Anne says that he was one of the "well-known horses brought by E... from the desert to Sennari." In her 1911 Sheykh Obeyd catalog, Lady Anne describes this horse as "the well-known Grey Kehilan Messenneh, brought from Arabia by Fahad." Ahmed Bey Sennari was a neighbor of the Blunts in Egypt.
Entry #5292 in the Raswan Index shows Koheilen El Mossen as bred by Ahmed Bey Sennari, but entry #644 shows him as brought from Arabia by Fahad to Sennari.
