A Ma'naqi Hudruji.
NOTES: The RAS History describes Sabbah on p55 as by Saklawi I out of Maanagia Hadragia. Raswan Index entry #8781 shows the same information as the RAS History, adding that Sabbah was grey and bred by Prince Ahmad. Corrections entry #1319 suggests that Sabbah may also be the sire of Nafaa El Saghira (APK) under the name of Meanagi Sebeli.
Lady Anne Blunt's records contain information which supports this possibility. In her 1911 Sheykh Obeyd Catalog, Lady Anne describes her mare Roda as by "Sabbah, Grey Manaki Hedruj, his dam the Manakieh Hedrujieh, brought direct from Ibn Majil of the Roala tribe to Prince Ahmed..." In visiting Prince Ahmad's stud [J&C, 3/9/1904-a time near the estimated birthdate of Meanagi Sebeli's daughter Nafaa El Saghira at Prince Ahmad's] she refers to one of the stallions as a grey Ma'naqi Hudruji stallion of the marbat of Ibn Sbayyil (or Ma'naqi Sbaili) out of the Ma'naqiyah Sbailiyah "brought from Arabia to the Tihawis [the Tahawi tribe in Egypt] from whom Prince Ahmed took her."
The slight differences in information in journal entries (direct from the Ruwalah to Prince Ahmad versus brought from Arabia to the Tahawi and then to Prince Ahmad) do not appear to disqualify the hypothesis. The Sbaili and Hudruji names are not necessarily mutually exclusive. [See Maanagia Hadragia (APK)] This hypothesis appears to cover the information well, and is followed in this volume. No separate entry will be found in the Foundation Horses section for Meanagi Sebeli.
A Ma'naqi Hudruji.
