A Kuhaylat 'Ajuz al-Harqah (or Kuhaylah Harqah) imported prior to1855 to Egypt for Abbas Pasha.

NOTES: The above information (except for the dates, which are Al Khamsa estimates) is from the pedigree on p12a of the RAS History. Harka is referenced as the dam of Harkan (AP) in the 1932 certified pedigree for *Bint Serra I from the stud of Prince Kamal al-Din. This information is consistent with that of Lady Anne Blunt [Bowling, see p123].

Information which may describe the Al Khamsa Foundation Mare called Harka is in the translation by Gülsün Sherif and Judith Forbis of a book of Arabic testimonies [1993, pp548-552]. The al-Harqah strain (meaning that which was burnt) is said to have originated with the 'Ajman from a Kuhaylan 'Ajuz line. It is possible that Harka might be identified with either a mare called 'Usaymah or 'Usaymah's dam, in that both went to Egypt for Abbas Pasha. 'Usaymah was a grey Kuhaylah Harqah mare bred by Muhammad Ibn Qarmalah, Shaykh of Qahtan. Her sire was said to be "brother" to her dam, a grey Kuhaylah Harqah mare bred by Muhammad Ibn Qarmalah. The dam's sire was a Rabdan of al-Daham who was by a Hadban Inzihi of Ibn Lamy. The maternal granddam was a grey Kuhaylat Harqah mare also bred by Muhammad Ibn Qarmalah. The granddam's sire was a Kuhaylan 'Ajuz who was by a Kuhaylan Kurush of Dalham of Qahtan and the granddam's dam was a grey Kuhaylat Harqah mare sired by a Kuhaylan 'Ajuz stallion of the marbat of Ibn Jallab (or Kuhaylan Jallabi) and purchased from the 'Ajman by Muhammad Ibn Qarmalah.
