NOTES: The sire and dam above are from the 1932 certified pedigree for *Bint Serra I from the stud of Prince Kamal al-Din. Her pedigree is shown by Lady Anne Blunt in a herd book entry for Bint Nura (BLT) as a daughter of the original mare (Faras Naqadan) by a Saqlawi-Jidran of the "'Semirieh' strain i.e. Sbeyni" [Bowling, see p123]. The name Bint Faras Naqadan means "the daughter of the mare of Naqadan."

Identification of the name Talqah with the mare of Naqadan is from Raswan Index entry #10315. Entry #1442 shows Bint Faras Naqadan-also called Azz-as a c1845 mare by Zobeyni out of Faras Naqadan. Entries #1045, #1413 and #2579 equate Azz and Bint Faras Naqadan but entries #1066 and #1442 show different offspring for each name-Azz as dam of Bint Azz and Bint Faras Naqadan as dam of Aziza (APS).

Separate entries are made for Azz and Bint Faras Naqadan in this work, although both names may refer to the same mare. The 1860s date is an Al Khamsa estimate, and the strain is carried forward by Al Khamsa. Peter Upton [1989, 282] dates Bint Faras Naqadan to c1840. This seems unlikely considering the c1868 birthdate of her daughter, Aziza. [See also under Azz (APS)]
