A Dahman Shahwan of the marbat of al-Najib, probably out of Bint Nura (BLT).
NOTES: The 1932 certified pedigree for *Bint Serra I from the stud of Prince Kamal al-Din describes Kaukab as a grey stallion by Ibn Sherara out of "Bint Nura." Lady Anne Blunt [J&C, 2/20/1914] describes Kaukab as a son of Bint Nura "and there is in him much to recall her." These notes imply that Kaukab was out of the mare-Bint Nura (BLT)-purchased by the Blunts in 1897.
Colin Pearson [1988, xxiv] shows Kaukab as having the same dam as Bint Nura (BLT) and Ibn Nura (APS). The date is an Al Khamsa estimate, based on Lady Anne's journal entries [J&C, 12.03.07 and 2.20.14]. [See also the entries for Bint Nura (APS) and for Bint Nura (BLT).]
