A Pre-Registration Horse
A Saqlawiyah Jidraniyah of the marbat of Ibn Sudan. Purchased from her breeder in 1896 by Wilfrid and Lady Anne Blunt. Sold to Spencer Borden, imported to England by Lady Anne Blunt and transshipped from Liverpool to the USA in 1909.
NOTES: The above information (except for the strain, original purchase information and specific shipping detail) is from the entry for *Ghazala in Weatherby's General Stud Book, Vol. XXII p955. This information is consistent with the entry for *Ghazala in the Arabian Horse Club stud book, Vol. II p127. However, the AHC entry has no substrain and erroneously has Ibn Sherara and all four of *Ghazala's grandparents as GSB-entered horses.
The entry for *Ghazala in the Sheykh Obeyd herd book of Lady Anne Blunt (Pearson, 1988, p138) adds the strain and original purchase detail and otherwise shows the same information as the GSB entry. Lady Anne Blunt [J&C, 12.15.1896] reports buying Bint Helwa with *Ghazala at side, showing the sire of the foal as Ibn Nura (APS). Other entries for *Ghazala show her as by Ibn Sherara. Peter Upton [1989,151] adds the shipping detail and otherwise is in agreement with the GSB entry.
